Financial giving can be divided into three categories: tithes, offerings and alms (missions). The Bible teaches us that we worship the Lord with our tithe (Malachi 3:10), which is ten percent of our income contributed to the church on a consistent basis. Offering (Luke 6:38) is over and above our tithe, and is the expression of our love to Him as a result of our relationship with Him. Alms or Mission (Matthew 6:1-4) giving is purpose driven and is so done as missional needs and opportunities are identified.

Outside of obedience, the reward of giving is based in the law/principle stated in Genesis 8:22 of seedtime and harvest. Seed only reproduces after its kind and as you sow financial seed then you must reap a financial harvest.
